Terms and Rules of Participation
The 48th INTERNATIONAL FOLKLORE FESTIVAL OF LEFKAS will take place from the 22nd to the 29th of August 2010. We deem to schedule our program and host dance groups that worthily represent the folk dances and music.
Here enclosed you will find the application rules for the 48th Lefkas International Folklore Festival in August 2010 from the 22nd until the 29th .
The participating group:
The group has to accept the following rules, terms and conditions in order to take part to the Lefkas International Folklore Festival. Not conforming to this context will be a serious reason for a group to be excluded.
1) The group must perform only traditional dances of the country represented. It will perform on stage and street activities.
2) The group must comprise of no more than 35 participants including managers, musicians and drivers. Dancers must be over 17 years of age.
3) The group must be accompanied with orchestra with traditional musical instruments.
4) The group must be in Lefkas either on Friday the 20th or on Saturday the 21st , August 2010.
5) The group has to take part in the great parade of friendship of people on Sunday 22nd , August 2010 at 19.00pm and in a five minute short representative dance appearance at 21.00 in the opening night of the festival, (with TV transmission).
6) The group has to appear 2 times of 20 – 30 minutes respectively programs (on different days) during the one week duration of the festival in the city of Lefkas, and 2 appearances in other places of the island in shows of 30-50 minutes.
7) The group has to make its last short appearance in Lefkas on Sunday 29th , August 2010 at the official closure of the festival.
8) The group will stay in Lefkas from the day of its arrival (Friday 20th or Saturday 21st August) until Monday August 30th after breakfast.
9) The group will have full accommodation during the festival period
10) The group will stay in specially arranged school buildings. There are 8-10 beds in each room. Sheets and pillows are provided. Towels are not provided.
11) The group must prepare in time and send full members list , including the exact members of the group, their full names, birth dates, personal addresses & passport numbers of: dancers, musicians and any accompanying person (s), and of course, possible flight number.
12) The group must send a DVD which includes the group’s performance. The decision will be made after watching the performance video.
The Festival
1) The festival offers breakfast & 2 meals per day (lunch and dinner)
2) We emphasize that any travel expenses (flights, cost of bus etc) to Greece will not be covered by the Festival.
3) Any travel expenses of the group incurred in the Greek territory on road transportation (inner and from any frontier post following the shorter national road), are covered by us, which include fuel (0,20 euros/km) and tolls. (that means: when you arrive to Lefkas we will reimbourse you the amount of these expenses and of course the same for your return).
4) If the group is coming by air we arrange and cover transportation by coach to Lefkas with return to the airport.
5) Each member of the participating groups will receive a daily allowance of 2 €.
6) The language of the Festival is English and Greek. Each group will be provided with an English speaking interpreter.
7) The Festival offers first aid and normal medical care
8) The Festival reserves the right to broadcast the festival performances partly or entirely without any payments to the group.
